Purificators

Each week, the church purificators are laundered and ironed by ladies of the parish.  The women serve and contribute to the Eucharistic celebration in a quiet and humble manner, yet feel blessed and honored serving their parish community. A big thank you to these ladies for their time and talent for the last several months: Bea Pachiano, Maria Pachiano, EmilyPerez-Rodriguez, Karen Eichorst, Melissa Nevarez, Laura Worley, Anita Reyna,Elaine Simko, Grace Simmons, Janie Esparza, Megan Mendez, Marla Cottenoir,Marva Bichsel, Pat Harder, Ann McGinty, Shelby Cargill, Barbara Cantu,  Sheryl Odorizzi just to name a few.

Purificators  are special linens which pertain to the Eucharist: The purificator (purificatorium or more anciently emunctorium) is a white linen cloth which is used to wipe the chalice after each communicant partakes. It is also used to wipe the chalice and paten after the ablutions which follow Communion.

If you are interested in joining the purificatory team of volunteers during 2019, please call Grace 806-407-0030.  The ladies will tell you that it is a privilege to take on this responsibility.  We need you!

2020 Passion Play in Oberammergau In 1633, Southern Germany was in the grips of war, poverty, and the plague.  That year when the disease reached Oberammergau the villagers prayed for deliverance and vowed to perform a passion play about the last days of Jesus forever more.  Their prayers were answered and the village was saved from a continued outbreak of the plague. Nearly 400 years later the play continues.  It is performed once every decade. Witness Oberammergau Passion Play 2020 which will be performed daily May 16 through October 4, 2020. For more information please contact Debra at Envoye Travel 806-788-8907 ext.2004. Debra@envoye.com  Join me, Sigrid Carter, for a visit to my home Country Germany, so I can take you to Oberammergau to witness the 2020 Passion Play.  I have only a few GREAT seats left with an overnight in a 4 star hotel,  just a few steps away from the performance. The unique play is a world event, a must see for every Christian.   It takes place only every 10 years.  In 2010 we visited not only Oberammergau but also the Holy Land, Rome, Austria for the Sound of Music, Switzerland for the spectacular scenery, and France for the Shrine of St. John Vianney. I can tailor your trip just for you, or you can join our Danube cruise which includes the Passion Play.

Saturday Leaf Gathering

Thank you to all those that braved the cold weather Saturday morning to help with the final grounds clean-up project at Holy Spirit. Your volunteer spirit is appreciated by all those that couldn’t be there to help.

Volunteering – is the practice of people working on behalf of others without being motivated by any personal gain. That describes the Saturday volunteers perfectly!

Two hours work by our early-morning volunteers. Thank you!
The Rosco Team.
They are looking good Charlie.

We appreciate our Young Adults; Libby, Stacey, Irving, & Jamir.

Gratitude

With Grateful Appreciation” to Our Pastor

November is National Vocation Awareness Month as well as our Thanksgiving holiday. It is a perfect time to express our thanks to Fr. Rudi for his dedication to both his vocation to the priesthood and his willingness to serve the spiritual needs of our Holy Spirit community.  The Vocation Ministry Committee plans to compile some appreciation notes and present them as a gift to Fr Rudi during the Christmas season.

Blank “Appreciation Notices” will available in the gathering space this weekend. Please take one and write your personal note to Fr Rudi to express your appreciation to him for his guidance and direction that have helped you grow in your faith.  Completed cards may be left in the basket in the gathering space.

Focus on Gratitude: The mere daily act of focusing on our blessings makes us more mindful, more present to God’s mystery and gifts, and more aware of the needs of others around us.

K of C Appreciation

The Knights of Columbus hope all that attended their Thanksgiving dinner last Sunday were filled with food, fellowship, and gratitude when you left. Thank you for your support. They will begin their annual Christmas magnet sales next weekend, December 1st & 2nd after the weekend Masses.  All proceeds are used to fund their wheelchair program.

Since 2003 the Knights of Columbus has funded delivery of tens of thousands of wheelchairs around the world, and right here at home. Thousands of veterans and their families in need of wheelchairs have received new mobility and honor the knights with their thanks and prayers.  This life changing mission allows children, teens and adults around the world to have their prayers answered with the gift of hope, freedom, dignity, independence… a wheelchair!
