Where would you like to serve at Holy Spirit? Where might God be calling you to use your talents? All are welcome to be a part of the many Holy Spirit’s Ministries. Remember, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24.

We have many opportunities and organizations for you to serve, or to be involved in. Liturgy Commission: (Choir, Altar Servers, Ceremonial Ministers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Audio/Visual), Vocations Ministry, Funeral Meals, Environment, Sponsors for OCIA, CCE/Edge/LifeTeen, Knights of Columbus, Young Adults, Women’s Organization, Altar Care/Linens, Ushers, Women’s Bible Study, Prayer Ministry, Field of Dreams/Baseball Field, Young at Heart (Seniors 55+), Adult Faith Formation. Holy Spirit provides a variety of opportunities for parishioners to volunteer in any capacity that they feel comfortable in serving. While volunteers are appreciated by other volunteers and the parish staff, many find personal fulfillment when sharing their time and talents within their parish community. Please carefully consider how you can participate.

You can download the Volunteer Form here and return it to the parish office or just put it in the collection basket on Sunday.  Please call the parish office if you have any questions 806.698.6464.

Choir Ministry Have you thought about volunteering for the choir? .Dr Rob and Dr. Katie DeVet have invited anyone interested in joining the choir to talk to them after the weekend Masses. Choir practice is held weekly at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays in the sanctuary.

Church Grounds Beautification Like doing a little yard work? Volunteers willing to take care of one of our many landscaped areas around the church are needed. This involves a little weed pulling, trimming, raking leaves, and picking up trash in that area.  Please contact the church office or email parish@holyspiritlubbock.org

Usher & Greeter Ministry  Isn’t it nice to have someone welcome you when you come to Mass, especially if you are new to the parish? Please call or email the Parish office to volunteer. parish@holyspiritlubbock.org .

Altar Society/Environment  Volunteers are needed to help prepare the liturgical environment for our weekend Masses, holy days, and special feast days. We begin each year with the season of Advent and move through the different liturgical seasons of Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time. Preparation of altar cloths, liturgical banners, flowers, and candles to coordinate with each season is appreciated by all those who worship here at Holy Spirit. To volunteer or for more information, please call the parish office or email parish@holyspiritlubbock.org .

Altar Linens Each week volunteers launder and iron the altar purificators, hand towels, and corporals that were used on the altar during Mass and the distribution of Holy Communion. Fortunately there are many volunteers so each person is responsible for one weekend each year. If you would like to help, please contact Gracie Simmons or email parish@holyspiritlubbock.org .

Audio/Visual Volunteers Are you interested in helping with the AV during weekend Masses? This involves monitoring the sound system, Power Point slides, and the projection screens during Mass. Please contact Amy at amy@holyspiritlubbock.org

Nursery Care Supervising and caring for small children in the nursery during Mass is a loving ministry to volunteer for. Besides needing help during weekend Masses, volunteers are needed during some of our adult class meetings. If you are interested in learning more about the nursery ministry, please call the parish office or email parish@holyspiritlubbock.org .

Funeral Meals Holy Spirit offers to host a meal for families after the funeral Mass of their family member. Volunteers are needed to help with this ministry. This would involve preparing food, helping set up the meal area, serving food and with clean up. If you are interested please call the parish office or email parish@holyspiritlubbock.org .

Communion Ministers to the Sick Often times, parishioners are unable to attend Sunday Mass due to a prolonged illness, are in a 24-hour facility, are homebound, or are hospitalized. Holy Spirit has a group of Holy Communion ministers who reach out to these people by taking them Holy Communion weekly. This volunteer opportunity allows you to make the visits according to your schedule. English and Spanish speaking volunteers are needed. If you are interested please call the parish office or email parish@holyspiritlubbock.org .

St. Benedict’s Volunteers Every five or six weeks Holy Spirit is committed to feeding and serving the homeless and less fortunate on Saturday evenings at St. Benedict’s at 28th and Ave Q. Holy Spirit Parish and St. Benedicts provide vegetables, salad, bananas, and  bottled water for TO GO boxes. There are additional Lubbock churches that also provide this service each month.

Many parishioners have volunteered over the years and we try to maintain a good pool of people to provide food and serve. Currently, we need people to provide baked pans of chicken spaghetti, desserts, bread, and to serve at St. Benedicts.  If interested please provide your name, e-mail and phone number to: amy@holyspiritlubbock.org
Thank You!
